HALLOWEEN 2017

A LANDMARK YEAR.

Taking inspiration from one of my all-time favorite horror films, “Return of the Living Dead,” toxic waste was “spilled” throughout the graveyard, animating the punk skeletons inhabiting it. In other words, I tried to get conceptual. However we look at the success or failure of delivering on that concept, it was a dramatic overall effect and did bring the noise.

THE HAUNT

BIG time prop upgrade in 2017. Skeletons, toxic waste drums and new lighting were added. That helped deliver more of the idea of a “scene.” Suddenly, the haunt started to feel vaguely real.

OTHER HALLOWEEN PROJECTS

I absolutely love creation as an act of devilish communion with the Halloween spirit. These were an awesome way to connect to a great spooky tradition.

VINTAGE SPOOK SHOW HOMAGE POSTERS

In the golden age of horror cinema, theaters were hosting special events to cater to teenage audiences called “Spook Shows.” From 1929 to the late 70s, these shows frightened and fascinated teen minds with a heady mixture of midnight horror movies, live celluloid horror heroes, local shock actors, and spooky gimmicks. GOD, I wish I had been there in the heyday of the 40s through the 60s. In the 70s, I did regularly attend a Saturday horror matinee… But it wasn’t the same. I created these fantasy posters from scratch in homage to this lost tradition from a lost time.
